THE WORLD'S FIRST AVPN-CERTIFIED PIZZA TRUCK

Atlanta Pizza Truck holds certification #900 from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, the only global body that verifies true Neapolitan pizza. We're not just calling it authentic. Naples said so.

What Is AVPN Certification?

Founded in Naples in 1984, the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana protects the standard for true Neapolitan pizza worldwide. It works like an appellation, Champagne or Parmigiano-Reggiano, rather than a marketing claim. To earn the seal, a pizzeria must pass a full technical inspection, then submit to periodic re-inspection to keep it.

Why "Neapolitan Style" Isn't a Real Standard

Plenty of places call their pizza "Neapolitan" or "wood-fired." It's an unregulated term, anyone can put it on a menu. AVPN certification is different: it's independently verified, and until 2021 it was only available to brick-and-mortar restaurants.

How Atlanta Pizza Truck Became #900

Alessio Lacco pushed AVPN to create a certification for pizza trucks, a category they had never certified. In December 2021, AVPN drafted a new "on the road" disciplinare and Atlanta Pizza Truck became the first pizza truck in the world to earn it. AVPN president Antonio Pace said the honor belonged to "a 'true' Neapolitan, Alessio Lacco." The number 900 isn't arbitrary, it's the Fahrenheit temperature true Neapolitan pizza bakes at.
